Matchmaking involves personal information, private conversations, and introductions between people who may not otherwise know one another. Before sharing details, understand what the service collects, why it needs them, and when anything may be shared.

Start with consent

Ask whether both people agree before identifying information or photographs are shared. Consent should be specific enough that each person understands what will be disclosed and for what purpose.

Questions to raise

  • Which personal details are required before the service can assess whether it is suitable?
  • Who can access the information you provide?
  • What is shared before an introduction, and what remains private?
  • How can you correct information or withdraw from the process?

Review the written policy

Verbal explanations should be consistent with the service's written terms. Read the privacy policy and safety information, then ask for clarification wherever the practical process is unclear.
